What an Accounting Intern Does

An accounting intern handles supervised, real workflow: passing journal and payment vouchers in TallyPrime, reconciling bank, vendor and customer ledgers, preparing GST returns workings and TDS computations, assembling draft financial statements and supporting month-end MIS and audit schedules. You start by shadowing, then take ownership of defined tasks under review.

Who Can Apply

The programmes welcome B.Com, M.Com, BBA and MBA-finance students, CA, CMA and CS aspirants needing articleship-style exposure, and graduates transitioning into accounts. Entry-level tracks require no prior software skills; advanced tracks assume comfort with double-entry, GST basics and Excel.

Academic Track

The academic track is built for students who need a structured, credit-aligned internship with documented deliverables and a certificate that satisfies college or university requirements. The emphasis is on guided learning, reviewed output and a clear paper trail for evaluation.

Professional Track

The professional track targets job-readiness. You work to workplace standards on reconciliations, compliance returns and finalisation, learning the pace, accuracy and documentation discipline that employers expect from a junior accountant on day one.

Industrial Track

The industrial track exposes you to how accounting operates inside an organisation — cost capture, inventory and stores accounting, payroll, vendor cycles and ERP-style reporting. It bridges the gap between book-keeping in isolation and accounting as part of a running business.

Research Track

The research track supports interns pursuing dissertations or papers in accounting and finance. You learn to frame a question, gather and clean financial data, apply appropriate analytical methods and present findings to academic standards.

Online Mode

Online internships are delivered remotely with task assignments, screen-share reviews and mentor feedback through the platform. They suit students and working candidates who need flexibility while still producing reviewed, certifiable work.

Offline Mode

Offline internships at the lab provide supervised desk time, licensed software access and immediate, face-to-face correction. This mode builds fluency fastest and most closely simulates an actual accounts department.

Tools & Software

Interns gain hands-on time in TallyPrime for entry and statements, Excel for schedules and reconciliations, and QuickBooks or Zoho Books for cloud book-keeping. Industrial-track interns are introduced to SAP FICO concepts and the GST and MCA portals for filing workflows.

Compliance Exposure

You work through the compliance calendar that defines real accounting roles: GST returns (GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B) workings, TDS deduction and computation, and the reconciliations that must tie before filing. Understanding deadlines and consequences is as important as the entries themselves.

Mentorship & Review

Practitioners review your work, flag incorrect treatment and explain the right approach. The feedback loop is the core of the experience — you build competence through correction, not just completion.

Durations

Engagements range from short intensive internships to multi-month programmes, scoped to fit study and work commitments. Longer tracks let you progress from supervised tasks to genuine ownership of a process area.

Certification & Documentation

You finish with a verifiable certificate and a documented portfolio of the work you completed — reconciliations, returns workings and finalised statements — that you can show in interviews. It converts an internship line on a CV into demonstrable proof.

Outcomes

Graduates of these internships are ready for accountant, accounts-executive, audit-assistant and taxation-associate roles. You leave with software fluency, compliance awareness, real deliverables and the professional habits that shorten the gap between fresher and contributor.
